As part of the ongoing support for the Louisiades Community, EcoSustainAbility has, this week been assisting with the Nimowa marine ambulance and with Imanuel, from Panasia.

The MV Siletu is a marine ambulance based at Nimowa mission and providing support to the folk of the eastern Calvados Chain and Sudest Island. Father Tony advised that a crucial cooling system hose has failed and with the help of Cummins Nerco in Cairns the part is being air freighted to Alotau and then will be sent on to Nimowa. The Rally has previously provided support for the maintenance and running costs of the Ambulance. The Ambulance itself was donated by Kevin Dunn, who recovered the wrecked launch in Sydney, and with personal and donated funds and years of hard work restored it.

John and Gwen Mwasi, from Panasia island at the western end of the Calvados Chain of islands made an urgent trip to Misima last week with their grandson, Imanuel. Imanuel spent a week in hospital with an acute gastric upset. From Rally donations John and Gwen were provided some support for their living costs whilst in Misima and transport of Imanuel back to Panasia.
